Exclusive Video Fashion Archive Debuts at Alexander Street
(ALEXANDRIA, VA) – Hundreds of essential fashion videos are now available online with the debut of Fashion Studies Online: The Videofashion Library. The new collection will grow to deliver 1,200 hours of film footage, capturing nearly 40 years of worldwide fashion shows, designer profiles, and documentaries in one convenient online learning interface.
This collection is the most comprehensive of its kind and features high-caliber content from the archives of Videofashion, the world’s premier provider of fashion video footage. More than 80 percent of the films are exclusive to this online database, giving access to nearly 1,000 hours of footage that can’t be found in any other resource.
Content covers both the behind-the-scenes work and the end garments that appeared in stores and on runways in Milan, Paris, London, and New York. It showcases decades of work from top designers and labels including:

In addition to fashion merchandising and design programs, the wide-ranging video content gives the collection relevance to students and faculty in business, economics, theatre, costume design, dance, history, and cultural studies.
“Fashion is a living, breathing field,” said Nathalie Duval, director at Alexander Street Press. “It changes and develops every day, and it’s important to understand not only where it is at this moment, but also where it’s been. No experience can compare to watching the world’s iconic garments walk down the runway for the very first time or witnessing designers' evolutions across the years, and with this database, that’s finally possible.”
Alexander Street Press’s Fashion Studies Online is available to libraries worldwide via annual subscription or one-time purchase. No special setup or software is required—all you need is an Internet browser. For more information or to request a trial or price quote, email sales [at] alexanderstreet [dot] com.
