LEED, Laos, And Labradors: Fall Releases From Alexander Street Press
October 24, 2013 (ALEXANDRIA, VA)—Alexander Street Press has launched three academic film collections—Environmental Studies in Video, Asian Film Online, and Veterinary Education in Video. All three collections premiered to customers today on the publisher’s newly redesigned interface.
Environmental Studies in Video is a compendium of films covering all areas of the discipline, including sustainable development, climate change, biodiversity, food production, renewable energy, risk assessment, and more. Global in focus, the collection highlights environmental issues from dozens of countries across all seven continents and will grow to 500 hours of film. “Environmental studies is an exploding field that impacts countless departments across the campus. It’s everywhere,” said Will Whalen, Vice President of Licensing at Alexander Street and the collection’s lead editor. “Engineering, public policy, international relations, biology and other sciences, dozens of departments will find value in this content.” |
Asian Film Online unites 600 feature films, documentaries, and shorts and gives voice to filmmakers from 24 distinct countries across the region. More than 75 percent of the included films stream exclusively through this collection, adding new insights into discussions of Asian issues and cultures. “We’re delighted to . . . [make] these important films available to libraries and educational institutions around the world,” said Stephen Rhind-Tutt, President of Alexander Street Press. “Alexander Street’s mission is to make silent voices heard, and these films are essential for the study of the Asia Pacific region.” |
Veterinary Education in Video features high-definition video demonstrations of more than 500 procedures and techniques. Industry-accredited experts present the most up-to-date techniques for addressing the needs of small, large, avian, and exotic animals, skills for managing a veterinary practice, and more. “Perfecting intricate techniques is vital to a successful veterinary practice,” said Greg Urquhart, Vice President of Business Development and lead editor of the collection. “But the nuance of many skills can’t be captured by a book. Our database makes veterinary education clear, precise, and accessible to the full spectrum of veterinary professionals.” |
This trio of collections represents the first content to premiere directly onto Alexander Street Press’s new interface. This means all users of these collections can enjoy dozens of powerful features for learning and research, including discipline landing pages, high definition video, enhanced clip making, semantic facet browsing, one-click translations, and an instant citation exporter.
Environmental Studies in Video, Asian Film Online, and Veterinary Education in Video are available to customers worldwide via annual subscription or one-time purchase. For more information, or to request a trial or pricing information, email sales [at] alexanderstreet [dot] com.
